TNPSC Examination

What is TNPSC Examination? 

                  The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), Which serves as a recruitment board for our Tamil Nadu Government. This board was initially named as Madras Public Service Commission in the year of 1929. In 1970, the Commission has renamed it as the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. The Constitution of India is still organizing the TNPSC (Under Articles 315 to 323), this commission was introduced to have better civil service personnel in the government.

What the examination encompasses?

              Generally, The TNPSC is divided into four groups which are Group - I, II, III and IV and additional Group - IIa, Va, VI, VIIa, VIIb, and VIII. The Group - I will hold the examination for all the top postings in the department. Group - II will the next level of postings which will be followed by Group - III and IV. Each of them will have its cycle of recruiting process. The Group- I will have three-phase of the recruiting process, Prelims, Mains and Direct interview. Group - II is divided into two streams Group II and Group 2A, Group II is an Interview post that has the three levels of the selection process as Group I where the Group 2A non-interview post will have a two-phase selection process. Group III and IV will have the single phase of written examination.

Some essential stuff for your knowledge,

               Subjects. For education qualification Group I and II exam need degree qualification, Group III needs HSC/Degree with a minimum of 60% and the Group IV exam candidates should pass in the SSLC or its equivalent. Generally, the minimum age limit must be 18 years and the maximum age limit should be 32 years. The Age limit may vary accordingly to the caste and the type of Group examination. The commission examines Offline Mode. Candidates Need To Fill OMR Sheets Carefully In The Objective Type Written Examination. There Is No Negative Marking Strategy In TNPSC Examinations. Language Section Is Removed From The Preliminary Examination. New Pattern Preliminary Examination Has Total Number Of 200 Questions For 300 Marks. General Studies Section Carries 175 Questions And Aptitude Section Carries 25 Questions.

The POCSO Act

Nowadays, Most of us were hearing the word " Arrested Under POCSO Act " frequently, In switching the TV channels and scrolling down the social media posts. But we aren't much aware of POCSO Act. We have to know, what is happening around us!

What is POCSO Act?


           The Acronym of POCSO - The Protection Of Children from Sexual Offence, Act 2012. The Act came into existence on 14th November 2012. This statute has 9 Chapters and 46 Sections. The Act seeks to protect children (Aged under 18) from offences such as,


          1.Penetrative Sexual Assault.
          2.Aggravated Sexual Assault.
          3.Sexual Assault.
          4.Sexual Harassment.
          5.Child Pornography.

What are the punishments under this Act?

          If any cases have filed under this act they can't be withdrawn in any situation and There is no provision for bail in the POCSO Act. The punishments may differ, according to the Section number. Which includes  Fine, Imprisonment, Life Sentence, Death sentence. From the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Amendment) Bill - 2019, Notable changes were passed and the punishments were severe. It is important to remember that POCSO is not just applicable in cases of physical sexual crimes, but also ones that happen over the internet.



Records in Numbers!

         The committee noted that cases registered under POCSO rose from 32,608 in 2017 to 47,325 in 2019 – an increase of nearly 45% in two years. The National Crime Record Bureau's (NCRB) stated that as many as 1,48,185 crimes against children were reported in 2019 in the country and has revealed that crimes against children increased by 4.5 per cent in 2019 as compared to 2018.
